Plain English Summary

2/10 complexity

What this does: This is a safety directive requiring owners and operators of specific Mooney M20 aircraft to inspect the flap hinges for corrosion.

Who it affects: Owners of Mooney aeroplane models M20C, M20D, M20E, M20F, and M20G with specific serial numbers (listed in a separate requirement document).

What you must do:

Follow the inspection instructions in Mooney Service Bulletin M20-186A
Complete the first inspection within 100 flight hours after 30 April 1975
Repeat the inspection every year thereafter

Why it matters: Corrosion in flap hinges can weaken the aircraft structure and compromise safety. This amendment (Amendment 1) fixes an error in the original directive by correcting which specific aircraft models and serial numbers are actually covered, ensuring the safety requirements apply to the right planes.
