Plain English Summary

2/10 complexity

This airworthiness directive mandates removal and replacement of the Number 2 bearing (P/N 4-301-362-01) in LTS101-series AlliedSignal/Lycoming engines whose serial numbers are listed in Textron Lycoming Alert Service Bulletin A‑LT101‑72‑50‑0163 Revision 1, following that bulletin’s procedures (effective 2 March 1995). It affects aircraft owners/operators and maintenance providers: the replacement is required because a machining discrepancy may cause bearing—and potentially engine—failure; owners/operators bear the cost and downtime.
