Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

What this is: An Airworthiness Directive (a mandatory safety order) issued under the Civil Aviation Regulations requiring owners of Meta Sokol L.40 aircraft to modify their landing gear warning system.

Who it affects: All models of Meta Sokol L.40 Series Aeroplanes.

What it requires: The landing gear aural warning switch must be relocated so that pilots can only silence the alarm when the landing gear levers are fully retracted and locked in the overcentre position (the locked-away position).

Why it matters: This prevents pilots from accidentally turning off the warning sound when the landing gear is not properly stowed, reducing the risk of flying or landing with the gear in an unsafe position.

Compliance deadline: Before 1 July 1968.
