Plain English Summary

3/10 complexity

This Airworthiness Directive adopts FAA AD 91-03-03 for Pratt & Whitney JT9D-7R4 engines, requiring operators and maintenance organisations to perform the referenced inspections and corrective actions on HPC turbine drive shafts to detect circumferential thread-area cracks. It makes the FAA’s technical requirements mandatory in Australia, shifting costs and compliance responsibility to operators and removing discretion to ignore the referenced AD.
