Stepwise compliance plan. Follow the AD’s Requirements and compliance times in sequence. First, within 30 days after the AD’s effective date (7 May 2009), replace the existing Propeller Limitations Placard in the cockpit in accordance with BAE Systems (Operations) Ltd Service Bulletin J41-11-027, and ensure the Aircraft Flight Manual contains General Amendment G12 and Advance Amendment Bulletin No.13.2. Second, within six months after the effective date, install the Propeller Speed Warning System (modification JM41674) in accordance with Section 2 of BAE Systems (Operations) Ltd ACIB J41-61-014, and ensure the AFM contains Particular Amendment P111.3. Third, after the installation required by Requirement 2, remove the placard and AFM Advance Amendment Bulletin No. 13 that were introduced under Requirement 1.
Obtain and use the referenced documents. Acquire the exact versions of SB J41-11-027 and ACIB J41-61-014 Section 2 referenced in the AD. The AD permits the use of later approved revisions, so if you plan to use a later revision, obtain documentary proof that the later revision is an approved substitute for compliance with this AD. Keep copies of the relevant service bulletin pages, ACIB pages, and approval records in the aircraft maintenance records.
Document each step in the maintenance log. Make maintenance log entries and record the work completed against the AD. Record which revision of the service bulletin or ACIB was used, the work order and modification number (JM41674) associated with the Propeller Speed Warning System installation, and the AFM amendment insertions. Retain evidence of the placard replacement and subsequent removal of the interim placard and Advance Amendment No.13.
Coordinate AFM amendments with flight operations. Ensure that General Amendment G12, Advance Amendment Bulletin No.13.2, and Particular Amendment P111.3 are inserted into the AFM by the appropriate authorised person, and that flight crews are briefed on any changes to operating limitations, including the revised Flight Manual Limitation that permits taxiing with the condition lever at TAXI after the installation. Ensure the AFM change procedure used is consistent with the operator’s AFM amendment control process.
Plan maintenance scheduling and downtime. Schedule placard replacement and AFM insertion promptly to meet the 30‑day deadline. Schedule the installation of the Propeller Speed Warning System within the six‑month window and allow for procurement of parts, arrangement of qualified maintenance personnel, and any necessary ground testing or calibration specified in Section 2 of ACIB J41-61-014.
Retain proof of compliance for audit. The AD makes the AFM amendments themselves part of the compliance picture. Maintain copies of the AFM pages before and after amendment, records of placard installation and removal, and the completed modification work order referencing JM41674. Retain any authorisations or approvals that demonstrate that later revisions of the referenced documents were acceptable where used.
Verify placard removal timing. After the installation and AFM Particular Amendment P111.3 are accomplished, remove the interim placard and Advance Amendment Bulletin No.13 that were introduced by Requirement 1. Make a maintenance log entry proving removal and, where appropriate, append photographs or serial-numbered placard records to the log entry.
Clarify approval for later revisions. If you plan to rely on a later revision of SB J41-11-027 or ACIB J41-61-014, secure documented evidence that the later revision is "approved" for AD compliance. Keep that approval documentation with the aircraft records so that compliance can be demonstrated.
Communicate internally and to regulators where necessary. While the AD itself does not state a reporting obligation, operators should be prepared to demonstrate compliance to the Civil Aviation Safety Authority or its inspectors if requested. Ensure maintenance organisations, continuing airworthiness managers and flight crews are aligned on the status of each aircraft relative to the AD deadlines.
Confirm the effective date and deadlines. Use the AD effective date (7 May 2009) as the anchor for the 30‑day and six‑month compliance windows unless the operator has already accomplished the actions before the AD became effective. Where actions were previously completed, retain the evidence to substantiate that the AD’s requirements were satisfied before the effective date.
Keep records of correspondence. If any uncertainty arises, for example, about the acceptability of a later revision to a referenced document, seek written confirmation from the appropriate authority or the document approver and keep that correspondence with the aircraft’s maintenance records. The AD permits later approved revisions, but it does not specify the approval channel in its text, so documentary confirmation will reduce dispute risk.
