Plain English Summary

2/10 complexity

This mandatory Airworthiness Directive requires owners/operators of aircraft fitted with specific Collins APP-80 and APP-80A autopilot panels (parts 622-0141-001 through -030 and 622-3109-001 through -030) to correct a defect via the manufacturer's Service Bulletin 15 (SB 15) unless the panel already shows the SB 15 modification plate.

The fix, required by 30 June 1989, prevents resistors from producing smoke under certain +28V DC loading and eliminates a cockpit fire/smoke hazard.
