Plain English Summary

2/10 complexity

This Airworthiness Directive (AD) requires aircraft owners and operators with King KAP/KFC 200 autopilot systems (specifically those containing the KC 295 computer) to carry out a safety modification.

What you must do:

Install a modification in accordance with King-Bendix Service Bulletin KC 295 (Adapter Alert Mod 8)
This allows the autopilot system to detect if the autotrim sense switch is malfunctioning

Who this affects:

Operators of aircraft equipped with the King KC 295 computer (part of the KAP/KFC 200 autopilot system)

Deadline:

Before 31 October 1989

Why this matters: A faulty autotrim sense switch could cause the autopilot to trim the aircraft incorrectly without warning, potentially compromising flight safety. This directive (Amendment 1) clarifies which specific service bulletin to follow to avoid confusion.
