Plain English Summary

3/10 complexity

AD/INST/31 requires operators to remove and replace specific Airborne dry-air and auxiliary vacuum pumps whose drive shafts may have been incorrectly brazed. Affected parties are aircraft owners/operators and maintenance organisations: they must install pumps that have been reworked (identified by a white date code) or replace listed units before the next Maintenance Release after 31 March 1986. The rule aims to prevent premature pump failure; compliance imposes inspection, parts and labour costs and a need to source reworked replacements.
