Plain English Summary

2/10 complexity

What this does: This is a safety directive (called an Airworthiness Directive) that requires owners and operators of specific Hughes 369HE helicopters to modify the oil cooler blow system to prevent engine damage or failure.

Who it affects: Owners and operators of Model 369HE helicopters with specific serial numbers:

S/Nos. 0101E to 0215E
S/Nos. 0101S to 0257S, plus individual aircraft 0260S, 0261S and 0287S

What must be done: The helicopters must be modified according to the technical instructions in Hughes Service Information Notice HN-28.1 Part 1.

When: The modification must be completed within 100 hours of flight time (measured from when the helicopter is in service) after 29 October 1971.

Why it matters: This fixes a design flaw in the oil cooling system that could lead to engine failure, loss of oil pressure, or forced landings if not addressed.
