This mandatory Civil Aviation Safety Authority Airworthiness Directive requires owners/operators of McDonnell Douglas (Hughes) 500D Model 369D helicopters with main rotor hub serial numbers 0001–1388 to inspect and, if needed, replace main rotor hub strap pack retention bolts and bushings within 100 flight hours after 30 Sept 1981 (unless done within the prior 200 hours). Corrosion of these parts can cause catastrophic rotor failure; procedures are in Hughes Service Information Notice No. DN-91.

Bolts and Bushings - Inspection and Replacement

Applicability: All 500D Model 369D fitted with hub S/Nos 0001 to 1388. Document: Hughes SIN No. DN-91.

Compliance: Within 100 hours time in service after 30 September 1981, unless already accomplished within the last 200 hours time in service.
