Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

What this is: An Airworthiness Directive (AD) — a mandatory safety rule issued by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) under the Civil Aviation Regulations 1998.

What it does: Requires owners and operators of specific Hughes 369D helicopters (serial numbers 0003D to 0374D) to replace flexible hose assemblies according to the manufacturer's technical guidelines (Hughes Service Instruction Notice DN-34).

Who it affects: Operators, owners, and maintenance engineers working on these specific helicopter models.

Why it matters: Flexible hoses in aircraft can degrade over time or develop faults that could lead to system failures (such as loss of hydraulic pressure or fuel leaks). This directive ensures critical hoses are replaced before they become a safety risk, keeping the aircraft airworthy.
