Plain English Summary

3/10 complexity

This Airworthiness Directive requires owners/operators of Hughes 500D helicopters with the specified serial numbers to inspect and modify the forward fuselage where the engine inlet cover nutplates attach, in line with Hughes Service Information Notice DN‑25.1. Work must be done before the next major inspection or within 1,200 flight hours. The measure responds to overseas reports of cracking around those bolt holes that could cause structural failure and expands the original directive to cover additional aircraft after revised manufacturer guidance.
