Plain English Summary

3/10 complexity

This Airworthiness Directive requires owners/operators of Schweizer (Hughes) 269 helicopters to guard against cracking of the droop stop nut (P/N 269A1340), which can fail and endanger flight. Conduct daily visual checks for cracks (pilots may perform these but must log the AD reference) until a dye‑penetrant inspection is done per Schweizer Service Information N‑213.

Complete the dye‑penetrant inspection within 100 flight hours after 31 Dec 1987 or by 31 Mar 1988 (whichever is first) and before installing any affected spares; that inspection terminates daily checks.
