Plain English Summary

2/10 complexity

This Airworthiness Directive is a mandatory safety order requiring inspection of seatbelt systems on specific Schweizer helicopters.

What it covers:

Models affected: Schweizer (Hughes) 269A, TH-55A, 269A-1, 269B, and 269C helicopters
Part affected: Inertia reel shoulder harness assemblies (part number 269A4262) — both installed in aircraft and those sitting in spare parts inventory

What you must do:

Inspect the harness systems according to the manufacturer's Service Information Notice N-194
Complete the inspection within 100 hours of flight time after 31 May 1985 (or before installing any spare harnesses)

Why this exists: The manufacturer discovered these harness reels may not work properly in an accident, meaning occupants could be thrown from their seats during a crash.

Who needs to act: Helicopter operators, maintenance engineers, and parts suppliers holding these specific harness assemblies.
