Plain English Summary

3/10 complexity

This airworthiness directive mandates inspection of the lower coupling drive shaft on specified Schweizer (Hughes) 269-series helicopters, requiring operators to follow Hughes Service Instruction N-55.1 or FAA AD 68-26-1. Installed shafts must be inspected within 25 hours TIS after 4 Nov 1968; replacement shafts must be inspected before installation after that date.

It affects owners/operators of the serial-numbered helicopters listed in the AD, imposes inspection costs and possible short-term grounding, and relies on the referenced documents for inspection steps and corrective action.
