Plain English Summary

3/10 complexity

This mandatory CASA Airworthiness Directive requires owners/operators of Schweizer (Hughes) 269A/B helicopters (except those with low-tip-speed tail rotors) to carry out regular inspections of the horizontal stabiliser for fatigue cracks to prevent in-flight structural failure and loss of control. Inspections vary by stabiliser part number and recur on short (50 flight-hour) or longer (400 flight-hour) intervals depending on the component and inspection method.
