AD/HU 269/11 Amdt 3 - Main Rotor Blade - Inspection - CANCELLED

This instrument cancels a previous aviation safety rule for certain helicopters.

What this does This document officially cancels Airworthiness Directive (AD) AD/HU 269/11. Since 1973, this rule had required operators of Schweizer (Hughes) 269 series helicopters to perform specific government-mandated inspections on main rotor blades.

Who it affects Owners and operators of Schweizer (Hughes) 269 series helicopters, as well as maintenance engineers working on these aircraft.

Why it matters Previously, operators had to follow this specific government directive to check their rotor blades. Now, those same inspection requirements have been moved into the manufacturer's standard maintenance manual (the Handbook of Maintenance Instructions, Appendix B).

Because the safety checks are now covered by the manufacturer's normal instructions, this separate government directive is no longer needed. From 7 May 2009, operators simply follow the manufacturer's manual for these inspections rather than complying with this separate AD.
