What it does
AD/HS 125/179 is an airworthiness directive issued by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) on 22 June 2006, effective 3 July 2006, concerning UAM100 current limiters (part number UAM100) on specific models of British Aerospace BAe 125 series aeroplanes. It mandates a one‑time measurement of the resistance of the current limiters for the PE, PS1 and PS2 busses within 30 days or 25 hours time in service, whichever occurs first. If the measured resistance falls outside the range 0.46 milliohms to 0.56 milliohms, the defective current limiter must be replaced before further flight. The directive also requires the operator to submit a completed Service Bulletin/Kit Drawing Report Fax to the product support department of Raytheon Aircraft Company, containing the measurement results, owner and operator names, registration and serial numbers, and the number of landings and flight hours.
A notable feature is that a review of aeroplane maintenance records is accepted in lieu of the physical measurement, provided that review can conclusively determine (a) the date of the most recent 24‑month “F” or “F7” inspection of current limiters and the most recent replacement, and that neither inspection nor replacement occurred between 1 February 2006 and the effective date; and (b) that the current limiters are not from suspect picking tag purchase orders (PO 4501760749 or PO 4501743706). If the records review cannot conclusively establish both criteria, the measurement must be performed.
Additionally, from the effective date onward, no current limiter P/N UAM100 may be installed as a replacement part unless the picking tag PO can be conclusively determined from maintenance records and shown not to be from a suspect PO, or the resistance is measured and found to be within the correct range. The directive therefore imposes three distinct mechanical obligations: measurement (or records‑based exemption), conditional replacement, and a reporting requirement. It does not prescribe any recurrent interval; it is a one‑time compliance item triggered by the effective date and the aircraft’s time in service. The compliance times are short: 30 days or 25 hours for the initial measurement, and for reporting within 10 days after inspection or after the effective date if measurements were already performed.
