AD/HELIO/2 - Front Seat Restraint Installation - Modification - CANCELLED

This document cancels an old aviation safety rule that required owners of Helio Courier series aircraft (certified before 1967) to install shoulder harnesses (upper torso restraints) in the front seats.

What it does:

• Revokes Airworthiness Directive AD/HELIO/2 effective 17 January 2008
• Removes the specific requirement for Helio Courier aircraft to have upper torso restraints installed

Why it matters: The original 1972 rule was designed to improve pilot safety by requiring modern seatbelts in older aircraft. However, it has been replaced by a broader, general rule (AD/GENERAL/74 Amendment 1) that applies to all aircraft types, making this specific directive redundant. Owners of these aircraft no longer need to comply with this particular requirement, though they must still follow the replacement general directive.
