Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

What this does: This is an aviation safety rule requiring owners of Percival Vega Gull aircraft to upgrade the front seat seatbelts to proper safety harnesses.

Who it affects: Anyone who owns or operates a Percival Vega Gull series aeroplane (a British-designed light aircraft from the 1930s-40s).

What must be done: Install safety harnesses in the front seats following a design scheme approved by the Secretary (the government official responsible for aviation safety at the time). Guidelines for the installation design are available in Airworthiness Advisory Circular No. 62 from March 1972.

By when: The work had to be completed before 1 December 1973.

Why it matters: This improves pilot and passenger safety by ensuring proper upper body restraint during turbulence or accidents, rather than just a lap belt.
