Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

What this does: This document cancels a previous safety rule (Airworthiness Directive 80) that required owners of "simple aircraft" (light aircraft like small planes) to clean or decontaminate their fuel systems if they were contaminated with a chemical called Ethylene Diamine (EDA).

Who it affects: Owners and operators of simple aircraft who were previously required to follow the decontamination procedures.

Why it matters: The original rule was made in 2000 because contaminated fuel created a safety risk. Now that the fuel contamination issue has been resolved, the cleaning requirement is no longer necessary. As of 25 October 2007, aircraft owners no longer need to perform these specific decontamination steps.
