AD/GENERAL/79 Amdt 1 - Testing for Ethylene Diamine (EDA) Contamination of Fuel Tanks - CANCELLED

What this document does

This officially cancels a previous aircraft safety rule (Airworthiness Directive 79) that required testing of fuel tanks for a chemical called Ethylene Diamine (EDA).

Who it affects

Aircraft owners, operators, and maintenance organisations who were previously required to conduct EDA contamination testing.

Why it matters

The original rule was introduced in 2000 after contaminated fuel created safety risks. By October 2007, authorities confirmed the contamination issue was resolved and the unsafe condition no longer existed. This cancellation removes the mandatory testing requirement, saving operators compliance costs while maintaining safety standards.
