Back in 1987, the Civil Aviation Safety Authority required certain aircraft owners to remove the word "turbo" from exterior logos and decals. The concern was that ground crew might see the word and mistakenly think the aircraft had a turbocharged piston engine (rather than a turbine engine), potentially causing refuelling errors.

However, the regulator later realised this rule was purely cosmetic—it didn't actually fix any unsafe mechanical condition. This 2007 instrument formally cancels the 1987 directive, meaning aircraft owners no longer need to remove or cover up "turbo" insignia.
