Plain English Summary

2/10 complexity

This AD mandates specific design standards for three‑pointer altimeters in pressurised Australian aircraft: they must either meet the Australian Air Navigation Orders standard or the US military MS.28044 standard with required visual features (including a below‑10,000 ft warning band).

It applies to operators and owners of pressurised commercial, business and high‑performance private aircraft and aims to reduce altitude misreading and related accidents, especially below 10,000 ft.
