What it does
This instrument is an Airworthiness Directive (AD), AD/GC-1/3 (AD number 18/2020), that imposes mandatory inspection and, where required, repair work on the horizontal stabilizer front spar attachment for all Swift Museum Foundation GC-1A and GC-1B model aircraft. The AD prescribes a specific sequence of actions: remove fairings or interfering items, support the horizontal stabilizers so their position cannot change, remove the four AN 3 bolts attaching the front stabilizer spar to the fuselage bulkhead, and inspect the bolt holes for deformation or elongation (Requirement). If the holes are within tolerance, the original AN 3 bolts must be reinstalled and torqued to 25-30 inch‑pounds. If the bolt holes show deformation or elongation, the AD requires reaming the 3/16‑inch holes to 1/4‑inch with the stabilizers firmly blocked in the correct position, replacing the AN 3 bolts/nuts/washers with AN 4 bolts/nuts/washers and torquing them to 80-90 inch‑pounds (Requirement). The AD makes that replacement the terminating action for this AD’s requirements (Requirement: "Replacement of the AN 3 bolts... constitutes terminating action for the requirements of this AD").
The AD sets the compliance window: the initial inspection is required "within 6 months after the commencement date of this AD" and thereafter at each 100 hours’ time in service or every 12 months, whichever occurs first (Compliance). The AD commenced on 17 September 2020 and is dated 25 August 2020, signed by Pieter van Dijk as a CASA delegate (signature block). The instrument explicitly states it is issued to mandate requirements equivalent to United States FAA AD 51‑08‑03 and notes the FAA AD as the source document for its requirements (Requirement; Note; Background). The applicability clause covers "All Swift Museum Foundation GC‑1A and GC‑1B model aircraft" (Applicability).
