Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

What this requires: This directive mandates a one-time safety inspection of the baggage door frame on specific Gulfstream business jets—the G1159 and G-IV series models.

Who it affects: Owners and operators of these particular Gulfstream aircraft.

What must be done: The baggage door frame must be inspected for structural integrity following the procedures outlined in Gulfstream's Customer Bulletin No. 273. This inspection had to be completed within 100 hours of flight time after 30 April 1979, unless it had already been done.

Why it matters: The baggage door frame can develop cracks or fatigue that could lead to door failure in flight, potentially causing rapid depressurization or other serious safety hazards. This rule ensures any existing defects were identified and repaired before further operation.
