Plain English Summary

2/10 complexity

This is a mandatory safety order (an Airworthiness Directive) issued by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority for specific Fuji aircraft models.

What it requires: Owners or operators must replace the light alloy (aluminum) stop plate on the nose landing gear piston with a stronger steel version (part numbers X200-810114 or 200-822170-003). The six screws must also be locked in place using a method approved by the Secretary (the responsible government official).

Who it affects: Owners and operators of Fuji FA-200-160 and FA-200-180 aeroplanes that do not already have the specified steel plates and locked screws installed.

Why it matters: The original light alloy stop plates were prone to failure, which could cause the nose landing gear to collapse during landing or taxiing. This directive prevents accidents by ensuring the component is made of stronger material.

When it had to be done: Within 100 flight hours after 12 May 1969.
