What it does
This instrument is an Airworthiness Directive (AD) addressed to operators and maintainers of Fokker F50 (F27 Mk 050, Mk 0502, and Mk 0604) aircraft. Mechanically, it does three things, expressed in the AD as Requirement 1-3:
- It requires an X‑ray inspection of engine mount tubing and end fittings in accordance with Section 3, Accomplishment Instructions, of Fokker Service Bulletin SBF50-71-047, dated 15 February 2006 (or a later EASA approved revision). This is Requirement 1 of the AD.
- It requires that, after performing that inspection, all inspection results must be reported to Fokker Services following the reporting procedure described in SBF50-71-047. This is Requirement 2.
- It prohibits the installation of any spare engine mount on any aircraft unless that spare has been X‑ray inspected in accordance with Section 3, Accomplishment Instructions, of Fokker Component Service Bulletin F8200-035-71-12, dated 15 February 2006 (or a later EASA approved revision). This is Requirement 3.
The AD specifies deadlines for compliance. The AD becomes effective on 8 June 2006. The timing obligations are:
- The inspection required by Requirement 1 must be performed within two years after 8 June 2006.
- The reporting required by Requirement 2 must be completed within seven days of completing the inspection required by Requirement 1.
- The prohibition on installing uninspected spare engine mounts (Requirement 3) applies from after 15 June 2006.
The AD attaches applicability conditions. It applies to Model F27 Mk 050, Mk 0502 and Mk 0604 aircraft, all serial numbers, unless the engine mount frames have already been inspected in accordance with the Fokker 50/60 MRB Document, Task Numbers 712000-00-09 and 712000-00-10. The AD references manufacturer service bulletins and requires that the editions used for inspection be either the dated bulletins (15 February 2006) or any later revision that has been approved by EASA. The AD also refers to an earlier Dutch authority AD (CAA-NL AD NL-2006-005) as a note.
