Plain English Summary

2/10 complexity

What this is: This is an Airworthiness Directive (AD) — a mandatory safety order issued by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) under the Civil Aviation Regulations 1998.

What it requires: Owners and operators of Fokker F27 series aircraft must install a support bracket for the ducting located in the air conditioning compartment. The directive mandates compliance with Fokker Service Bulletin L-15, which contains the specific technical instructions for this modification.

Who it affects: Any person or organisation operating Fokker F27 series aeroplanes in Australia.

Why it matters: The support bracket prevents the air conditioning ducting from becoming loose or failing in flight. Without this bracket, the ducting could shift or detach, potentially damaging critical aircraft systems or creating unsafe conditions. This is a proactive safety measure to address a potential airworthiness issue before it causes an incident.
