What it does
This Airworthiness Directive, AD/F2000/26 dated 7/2007 and effective 5 July 2007, requires the removal of two specified engine fire monitoring units and their replacement with an improved part on a defined subset of Dassault Falcon 2000EX aeroplanes (see "Applicability"). The specific mechanical action mandated is: remove the two fire monitoring units part number P/N 6342-01 and replace them with P/N 6342-02 units in accordance with Dassault Aviation Service Bulletin F2000EX-138 or a later revision approved by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). The compliance window is within 12 months after the effective date of the Directive. The Directive explicitly refers to EASA AD 2007-0119 and states that an earlier interim Directive, AD/F2000/22, was initially issued as a one-time inspection measure and will be cancelled when this Directive takes effect.
The directive’s stated technical trigger is an integrity-monitoring failure in the engine fire detection system: the Background explains that EASA investigations following a CAS message "ENG 1 FIRE DETECT FAIL" showed detector threshold tolerances could not identify the failure of one single engine fire detector loop out of the two on each engine, hence "The fire detection system integrity was therefore not correctly monitored." In response, the Directive mandates installation of two new fire monitoring units "of an improved design, each one of them is capable of monitoring the integrity of both detectors on the associated engine." The AD identifies the exact part numbers to be removed and installed, and requires compliance by following the specified Dassault service bulletin as approved by EASA.
Mechanically, therefore, the AD changes the installed part standard for the affected fleet from P/N 6342-01 to P/N 6342-02, imposes an installation method (the Dassault SB, EASA-approved), sets a fleet and serial-number scope, and establishes a 12-month compliance deadline from the effective date of 5 July 2007. The text does not itself set out inspection procedures beyond directing compliance with the service bulletin.
