What it does
This Airworthiness Directive (AD/F2000/18) requires physical modification, testing and manual/MEL changes for Dassault Aviation Falcon 2000EX EASy aeroplanes with serial numbers 06, 28 and subsequent. Mechanically, the Directive makes three mandatory changes. First, for aeroplanes in the applicability range that do not already have modification M2758, it mandates incorporation of the IRS 2 wiring modification M2758 and a post‑modification test of the General Purpose (GP) bus IRS entry, to be carried out in accordance with the accomplishment instructions of Service Bulletin SB‑F2000EX‑89, or later revisions approved by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) (Requirement 1). Second, it requires amendment of the Falcon 2000EX EASy Maintenance Manual by inserting Revision 2 of Chapter 5.40 to introduce maintenance procedure MP 34‑209, a periodic functional "test of general purpose bus IRS entry" to be performed at 5 000 flight hour intervals (Requirement 2). Third, it requires amendment of the applicable Minimum Equipment List (MEL) to reflect dispatch conditions for "one IRS failure" as set out in Dassault Aviation Master MMEL temporary change TC 4 (Requirement 3). The Directive cross‑refers EASA AD 2006‑0157.
The Directive specifies a compliance timeline. For all three requirements it orders completion "at the earliest opportunity but no later than three months after the effective date of this Directive" and notes that the Directive becomes effective on 3 August 2006 (Compliance). The source includes a succinct operational background: during a flight test following an air data probe failure, both pilot and co‑pilot displays showed identically incorrect flight path vectors and vertical speeds; review found all IRS primary inputs were wired to the same GP bus, so ADS/IRS segregation objectives were not met and a single unflagged ADS error could produce misleading information on both displays, particularly hazardous at take‑off or go‑around (Background). The Directive therefore mandates the wiring change to IRS 2 and an ongoing periodic GP bus IRS entry test to maintain segregation, and it requires MEL changes to alter dispatch conditions after the wiring modification is implemented.
