What it does
This instrument is an Airworthiness Directive (AD) titled AD/F2000/11 (Flap Jackscrew) that applies to Dassault Falcon 2000 aeroplanes. It prescribes mandatory inspection and replacement work on flap jackscrews and related systems to address the safety hazard of flap jackscrew jamming, which the AD states “can cause an asymmetric flap situation which will result in reduced roll control of the aeroplane” (Background). The AD sets specific mandatory tasks, parts, identification requirements and compliance windows. Tasks required include:
- A check of the flap asymmetry protection system in accordance with Maintenance Manual (MM) procedure 27-502.2 (Requirement 1).
- Checks of nut/screw play on specified inboard and outboard jackscrews per MM procedure 27-504 (Requirements 2 and 6).
- Mandatory replacement of inboard flap jackscrews P/N 5318-1 (both inboard and outboard positions) with P/N 5318-1 new or revised items (Requirements 3 and 4).
- A prohibition on swapping actuators between the inboard flap inboard position and the inboard flap outboard position (Requirement 5).
The AD identifies affected components by part number (P/N) and specifies acceptable replacement parts and limitations. It notes that P/N 5318-1 jackscrews “can be revised only one time according to service bulletin AVIAC 5318-27-01” and that revised items are identified by an amendment “a” and the letter “R” engraved after the serial number (Note 1). It also allows replacement of P/N 5318-1 by P/N 5318-2 or P/N 5318-3, but states that limitations for those replacements are detailed in MM chapter 5.40 (Note 2). The AD cross-refers to a French DGAC AD (DGAC AD 1999-038-008(B) R1) (Note 3).
Compliance is mandatory within specified short windows tied to flight counts, flight hours or elapsed calendar time. Key compliance timing points are:
