What it does
This instrument is an Airworthiness Directive (AD) directed at certain Fokker F100 (F28 Mk 100) series aeroplanes and specified spare units. Mechanically, it requires operators and parts-holders to inspect and, in most cases, modify the main landing gear (MLG) outboard door operating rod bracket attachment where the door outer skin is carbon-fibre reinforced plastic (CFRP) and the door part number is D13312-401 through -410. The sequence set by the AD is:
- An inspection for cracks in the CFRP outer skin at the countersunk heads of the operating rod bracket attachment bolts, to be done in accordance with Part 1 of Section 3 of Fokker Service Bulletin SBF100-52-080, dated 12 December 2005, or a later CAA-NL approved revision (Requirement 1; Compliance 1).
- If cracks are found, installation of reinforcement plates per Part 2 of Section 3 of SBF100-52-080, or later CAA-NL approved revision, must be completed before further flight (Requirement 2; Compliance 2).
- If no cracks are found, the same reinforcement-plate modification must still be carried out within 12 months after 16 March 2006, again using Part 2 of Section 3 of the same Service Bulletin or later CAA-NL approved revision (Requirement 3; Compliance 3).
- For CFRP MLG outboard door units held as spares, part numbers D13312-401 through -410 inclusive, the AD requires modification by installation of reinforcement plates in accordance with Section 3 of Fokker Component Service Bulletin D13312-52-09, dated 12 December 2005, or later CAA-NL approved revision, within 12 months after 16 March 2006 (Requirement 4; Compliance 4).
The AD becomes effective on 16 March 2006 and was issued by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority, as signed by David Villiers, Delegate (2 February 2006). The instrument explicitly ties required actions to specific Fokker Service Bulletins and Component Service Bulletins and requires that those documents be used either as dated or in a later revision that has CAA-NL approval (Requirements 1-4; Note).
