What it does
This instrument is an Airworthiness Directive (AD) directed at Fokker F100 (F28 Mk 100) series aeroplanes, specifically Fokker Aircraft B.V. Model F28 Mark 0070 and Mark 0100 aircraft (Applicability). It mandates a one‑time physical inspection and, where necessary, corrective action on the nuts and shuttle valves in the deployment lines of the engine fire‑extinguishing system located in the APU compartment (Requirement 1-3; Background). The AD prescribes the exact accomplishment instructions to be followed: Section 3 of Fokker Service Bulletin SBF100‑26‑019 dated 6 January 2006, or a later CAA‑Netherlands approved revision (Requirement 1). If during the inspection no discrepancies are found, no further action is required by the AD (Requirement 1). If discrepancies are discovered, the AD requires tightening or replacement of the affected nuts, or replacement of the shuttle valves, in accordance with the same Section 3 of the service bulletin (Requirement 2). All discrepancies discovered must be reported to the type certificate holder as detailed in the service bulletin (Requirement 3).
The AD sets firm compliance windows: the inspection must be completed within six months after the effective date of the AD; any required corrective action must be completed before further flight; and any reporting of discrepancies must be made within seven days after the inspection (Compliance 1-3). The AD becomes effective on 16 March 2006 and is signed by the delegate of the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (James Coyne, dated 1 February 2006). The AD also references related documents: Fokker 70/100 Maintenance Manual Task 26‑21‑03‑400‑814A (Note 1), and a CAA Netherlands AD NL‑2006‑002 with EASA approval 2006‑018 dated 23 January 2006 (Note 2), indicating cross‑reference to both manufacturer maintenance material and foreign authority actions.
