| This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 7 July 2005. | |
| Background: | During an off-field emergency landing, the high inertia forces caused the rails from which the passenger service unit, speaker, oxygen, and blind panel assemblies are suspended to come loose from their brackets and fall on the backrests of the passenger seats throughout the cabin. Although in compliance with CS (JAR) 25.561(b)(3), inertia forces which exceed those of the certification requirements, or a dynamic deformation mechanism, could result in further incidents of panel detachments. This Directive requires the installation of additional cable ties to passenger service unit attachment brackets. |
