| Background: | There have been instances of in flight engine flameout due to engine main fuel pump malfunction. Investigations revealed that the cause of the failure was the fuel strainer flange which after breakage releases the filter set from the strainer body. The filter set impacts against the engine main fuel pump gears causing its jam causing fuel flow interruption, thus leading to engine flameout. This AD requires the replacement of the affected pumps with a pump with a serviceable pump. |
