| Applicability: | Embraer ERJ-170 aircraft models, serial numbers 17000002, 17000004 thru 17000013, and 17000015 thru 17000196. |

| Requirement: | Carry out a general visual inspection (GVI) of the emergency evacuation slide packs installed on the forward and rearward doors in accordance with the detailed instructions and procedures as described in the Embraer Service Bulletin No.170-25-0088 original issue, or later approved revisions. If tie-down straps are found, they must be cut and discarded.Note: ANAC AD 2008-01-03 refers. |
| Compliance: | Within the next 600 flight hours after the effective date of this Airworthiness Directive. |
| This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 10 April 2008. | |
| Background: | An escape slide system has been found with the tie-down installation straps, which are used for escape slide packing, still fitted. The tie-down straps will prevent the aircraft door to reaching the fully open position and the consequent deployment of the escape slide system in an emergency evacuation. |
