Owners/operators of Enstrom F‑28 helicopters (serial numbers below 745) must install a protective guard on the clutch engagement handle per Enstrom Service Directive Bulletin No. 0070.

This prevents accidental clutch disengagement from pressure on the stowed handle — a failure that could cut engine-to-rotor drive and cause catastrophic loss of control. Comply within 50 flight hours after 30 June 1986.

AD/ENST 28/28 Clutch Engagement Handle Guard 8/86

Applicability: All models prior to S/No. 745.

Requirement: Action in accordance with Enstrom Service Directive Bulletin No. 0070. Compliance: Within 50 hours time in service after 30 June 1986.

Background: The possibility exists that the clutch may be disengaged with handle stowed by pressure being applied at the handle pivot.
