Plain English Summary

This directive mandates a one‑time visual inspection, before 9 July 1971, of certain Beaufort emergency flotation items (infant/child cots and life jackets) to check seam adhesive deterioration. If seams or attachments can be loosened or show severe dark brown discoloration the item must be removed and replaced before the next flight; slight discoloration may remain in service but must be replaced within six months.

Operators must perform the inspections, bear replacement costs, and apply subjective judgement to the described deterioration criteria.
