AD/ELECT/50 - Rebling Nickel Cadmium Battery Quick Disconnect Receptacles - CANCELLED

This document officially scraps an old aviation safety rule that required modifications to battery connectors on aircraft.

What it was: An Airworthiness Directive (a mandatory safety order) originally issued in 1987 concerning "Rebling Nickel Cadmium Battery Quick Disconnect Receptacles"—specific types of battery connection fittings used on aircraft. The directive required operators to modify or replace these components to prevent unsafe conditions.

What it does now: The rule is cancelled as of 11 February 2008. Because every affected aircraft has already been modified over the past two decades, the safety risk no longer exists, making the requirement unnecessary.

Who it affects: Aircraft operators and maintenance engineers who were previously bound by the original directive. They are no longer required to comply with these specific battery receptacle requirements.
