Plain English Summary

3/10 complexity

Requires certain Bombardier (DeHavilland) DHC‑8 aeroplanes (specified models and serial numbers) to have Modification 8/3163 fitted per Bombardier Service Bulletin 8‑33‑40 Revision A so a cabin flight attendant can switch on the emergency lights even when the pilot’s emergency‑lights switch is OFF. Affected operators must complete the installation within 12 calendar months from 3 December 1998. The change alters who can control emergency lighting and imposes a one‑time maintenance/installation obligation on those aircraft.
