Plain English Summary

2/10 complexity

What this does: This safety directive requires owners or operators of specific De Havilland DHC-6 Twin Otter aircraft to install a safety guard on the airstair door (the plane's built-in staircase).

Who it affects: Aircraft with serial numbers 1 through 60, except serial numbers 25 and 30, that are equipped with an airstair door.

What must be done: Install the safety guard modification exactly as described in De Havilland of Canada Modification Bulletin 6/1068.

Why it matters: The guard prevents injuries that could occur if the door operates unexpectedly or if someone contacts the door mechanism during entry or exit.

Deadline: The modification should have been completed before 1 September 1971.
