Plain English Summary

2/10 complexity

What this is: A mandatory safety order (called an "Airworthiness Directive") for specific DHC-6 "Twin Otter" aircraft.

Who it affects: Owners and operators of Twin Otter planes with serial numbers 210, 231, 232, 234-245, 247-250, 252-256, 259-261, 264, 265, 267, 269-273, and 275 to 277.

What you must do: Modify the propeller auto-feather system (a safety mechanism that automatically adjusts the propeller blades to reduce drag if an engine fails). The work must be done exactly as described in the manufacturer's technical bulletin "De Havilland of Canada SB No. 6/236".

Deadline: The modification must be completed before 1 September 1970.

Why it matters: This ensures the aircraft's safety system works correctly to prevent dangerous handling problems if an engine loses power during flight.
