Plain English Summary

2/10 complexity

What it does: This safety directive mandates an inspection of the structural connection points between the aircraft's fuselage (main body) and the wing front spar (the primary structural beam inside the wing) on specific De Havilland Twin Otter aeroplanes.

Who it affects: Owners and operators of DHC-6 (Twin Otter) series aircraft with serial numbers 1 through 161, unless the aircraft has already been modified according to Modification No. 6/1189.

Requirements:

Action: Carry out the inspection following the procedures in De Havilland Service Bulletin No. 6/149.
Deadline: Complete the inspection within 200 hours of flight time (measured as "time in service") after 28 November 1968.

Why it matters: This check prevents catastrophic structural failure at the wing attachment points, which could lead to the wing separating from the fuselage during flight.
