Plain English Summary

3/10 complexity

Owners and operators of De Havilland DHC‑3 Otter aircraft must inspect, repair, or replace the elevator connecting rod per De Havilland Service Bulletin No. 3/35. An initial check is required within 10 hours’ flight time after 16 Oct 1978, and thereafter the rod must be inspected before the next flight whenever the parked aircraft has been exposed to jet blast, helicopter downwash, or wind gusts over 40 knots. This prevents hidden damage that could cause loss of pitch control.
