AD/DHC-3/27 - Front Seat Restraint Installation - CANCELLED

What this is: This document officially cancels a 1972 aircraft safety rule that applied to DHC-3 Otter aeroplanes.

What it did originally: The original rule required owners to install shoulder harnesses (upper torso restraints) in the front seats of these aircraft if they were certified before 1967.

What it does now: As of 17 January 2008, this specific rule no longer applies. It has been replaced by a broader, general safety directive (AD/GENERAL/74 Amendment 1) that covers this requirement across multiple aircraft types rather than singling out the DHC-3 Otter.

Who it affects: Owners and operators of DHC-3 Otter aircraft who were previously subject to the 1972 directive. They must now comply with the general directive instead.

Why it matters: This streamlines aircraft safety regulations by consolidating specific rules into general ones, reducing regulatory clutter while maintaining the same safety standards.
