Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

This is an aviation safety directive for DHC-3 Otter aircraft (a type of bush plane). It requires owners to clearly label the mixture control lever (the control that adjusts how much fuel mixes with air in the engine) with two specific markings:

"LEAN" — marking the minimum lean position (the furthest back the lever can go without cutting off the engine)
"CUT-OFF" — marking the rearmost position (which stops fuel flow to shut down the engine)

The goal is to prevent pilots from accidentally shutting down the engine when they only want to lean the fuel mixture, or vice versa. This applies to all DHC-3 models and must be done immediately.
