Plain English Summary

3/10 complexity

This AD requires operators of Bombardier DHC-2 Mk.1 aeroplanes to remove the carburettor heater muff and inspect specified exhaust collector ring segments for cracks or burn damage, repair or replace defective segments, and repeat inspections every 150 flight hours. Serious defects must be fixed before further flight. The rule is issued by a CASA delegate under CASR and imposes inspection, repair and replacement costs and operational downtime on aircraft owners/operators to reduce the risk of carburettor fires on start-up.
