AD/DHC-1/2 - Engine Mount Pick-Up Points - Modification - CANCELLED

What this document does

This officially cancels a 1952 aircraft safety directive (called an Airworthiness Directive or AD) that applied to De Havilland DHC-1 Chipmunk aeroplanes.

What the old rule required

The original 1952 directive required owners to modify the engine mount pick-up points (the structural fittings where the engine attaches to the airframe) on these vintage military trainer aircraft. This was to address a safety issue identified by the manufacturer.

Why it was cancelled

The directive was cancelled on 23 October 2008 because all affected aircraft would have been modified decades ago. The safety work is now complete, so the legal requirement is no longer needed.

What this means for aircraft owners

If you own a De Havilland Chipmunk, you no longer need to check or comply with this specific directive (though you must still follow all other applicable safety rules).
