Plain English Summary

4/10 complexity

This mandatory Airworthiness Directive applies to anyone who owns or operates a De Havilland DHC‑1 Chipmunk. It requires targeted inspections of the tailplane attachment at the tail‑wheel shock absorber, the shock‑absorber bracket, and the attachment bolts, with repairs per model (TMK‑10 must use factory Modification H.167 if damaged).

TMK‑10s without H.167 need daily checks and after hard landings; all others every 100 flight hours and after hard landings. The AD prevents undetected tail damage that could cause loss of control.
